Arctic Ascent with Alex Honnold

As the first stage of the epic Greenland expedition gets underway, the team walks up a glacier to look for signs of melting. When they find a “super moulin” (a huge cavern in the ice), they use their climbing skills to explore. At the top of the glacier, they come to their next challenge: a 1,500-foot wall of sheer granite. Even the team’s novice climbers will have to attempt the ascent.

Deadly icefalls hit Alex and the team as they make a first ascent of the 1,500-foot-high pool wall. Then, they set out on the first-ever crossing of the Renland Ice Cap, where they face snow storms and deep, deadly crevasses. After surviving a whiteout, they battle to get off the ice before traveling up an iceberg-filled fjord to get their first glimpse of the big climb: Ingmikortilaq.

The final stage of the epic Greenland expedition gets underway. Alex and the other professional climbers begin their ascent of one of the biggest unclimbed walls on the planet and discover that it could be the most dangerous climb they’ve ever attempted. Meanwhile, the science team gets some unexpected results about one of the most important glaciers in Greenland.
