Weruche Opia
Weruche Opia is a British-Nigerian actress. Opia is most well-known for her breakout performance in HBO’s acclaimed series, “I May Destroy You,” opposite Michaela Coel. Her portrayal as Terry Pratchard in the series garnered her a British Academy Television Award nomination and a Black Reel Award.
Previously, Opia starred in Netflix’s film, “Slumberland” alongside Jason Mamoa as well as Apple TV+’s “High Desert,” opposite Patricia Arquette, Brad Garrett, and Bernadette Peters. She also appeared in the third series of the BBC comedy “Bad Education,” and its 2015 spinoff film. She was nominated in 2015 in the Nollywood Actress of the Year Category at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards for her role in the film “When Love Happens.” Opia is also a veteran of the stage, having appeared in productions at the Royal Court, Young Vic, and The Old Vic theaters in London.
Weruche Opia holds a degree in drama and sociology from the University of the West of England, Bristol and currently resides in London.
