Marcus Scribner
Marcus Scribner is Andre Johnson Jr. (aka Junior) on the sixth season of Freeform’s hit comedy “grown-ish,” produced by ABC Signature.
Scribner is a multihyphenate, next-gen actor and producer. He’s best known for his first series regular role on ABC’s groundbreaking hit comedy series “black-ish,” starring as Junior opposite Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross ― a role he landed at only 13 years old. Last year, he added leading man to his resume when he went on to star in Freeform’s most popular spinoff comedy series “grown-ish,” following Yara Shahidi’s graduation from the series.
Most recently, Scribner starred alongside Ariela Barer, Forrest Goodluck and Lukas Gage in NEON’s indie drama feature “How To Blow Up a Pipeline,” which premiered at the 2022 Toronto Film Festival to rave reviews. Helmed by director Daniel Goldhaber and adapted from Andreas Malm’s nonfiction book of the same name, the timely feature film centers around a diverse group of climate change activists who set to blow up a Texas pipeline to disrupt the oil trade.
Additionally, Scribner appeared in the Netflix young adult film “Along for the Ride.” His other film credits include “Farewell Amor” (which was showcased at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival), Awesomeness Film’s “The F**k-It List” (2020), the college thriller “Confessional” (2019), and the teen comedy film “Alexander IRL” (2017). Scribner can be heard as D’Angelo Baker in DreamWorks’ animated series “Dragons: The Nine Realms.” His other voiceover work includes 20th Century Studios’ “Ron’s Gone Wrong” (2021), DreamWorks’ “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power” (2018-2020), Netflix’s “Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh” (2016-2017), and Pixar’s “The Good Dinosaur” (2015), among others.
A passionate humanitarian, Scribner serves as an ambassador for Defend Our Future, a project of the Environmental Defense Fund dedicated to empowering young people of all political persuasions interested in advancing climate change and clean energy solutions. He also serves as the chief youth innovator for Reserve Protection Agency in South Africa, helping to protect Africa’s beautiful animals. In November 2019, he was honored by the National Foster Youth Institute for his work raising awareness about underserved foster youth.
Scribner was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, where he currently resides.
