Maile (pronounced Maɪ Leɪ) Masako Brady is a singer/songwriter, actress and dancer. She recently released her second single, “Gotta Have It,” with Iz Lamarr. Her debut single, “Exhale,” was released in 2021, and she has plans to release her full debut EP later this year.
As a student at Loyola Marymount University, majoring in theater arts, she recently headlined the LMU’s production of “Cabaret” in the role of Sally Bowles. As a classically and street-trained dancer, Brady is adept at a variety of dance styles, including hip-hop, jazz and musical theater.
This summer, Brady will star in the upcoming docuseries “Wayne Brady: The Family Remix,” premiering on Freeform and streaming on Hulu. The show will follow her unique blended family, which includes her father, the Emmy® Award-winning and GRAMMY®-nominated Wayne Brady, and her mother, producer Mandie Taketa. Although divorced, the pair are business partners and remain best friends. Additionally, the series features Jason Michael Fordham, Taketa’s life partner of 12 years, and Sundance-Isamu, Taketa and Fordham’s son.
Brady’s acting credits include a guest appearance on the classic improv series “Whose Line is It Anyway” and a recurring role on “The Bold and the Beautiful” from 2018 to 2019.
Aside from her artistic pursuits, Brady is an advocate for social causes, lending her time to movements like Stop Asian Hate and The Trevor Project, as well as organizations that support Black social justice and racial equality. She has always celebrated her multiracial background and is passionate about promoting diversity and representation in the entertainment industry.
