Susan Cartsonis serves as executive producer of the Disney Channel Original Movie “Upside-Down Magic,” based on The New York Times best-selling children’s books of the same name.
Cartsonis is no stranger to Disney Channel and served as executive producer, most recently, for the Disney Channel Original Movies “Descendants 3” (2019) and “Freaky Friday” (2018). Other recent films include “Carrie Pilby,” which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2016, and “Deidra & Laney Rob a Train,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2017.
“The Hollywood Reporter” named Cartsonis one of the top five grossing producers of 2000 for “What Women Want”—the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all-time at the time of its release (and currently number two)—as well as for “Where the Heart Is.” She produced the teen hits “The Duff,” “Beastly” and “Aquamarine,” and executive-produced “Middle School,” “Invisible Sister” and “No Reservations.”

At Fox, she supervised more than 20 films including “Nell,” “French Kiss,” “The Truth About Cats and Dogs,” “For the Boys,” “Dying Young” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” She also supervised talent deals with stars such as The Farrelly Brothers, Geena Davis, Richard Gere and Johnny Depp.
Cartsonis is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Television Academy, and serves on the Independent Committee of the Producers Guild. She teaches advanced producing at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts with Jane Goldenring, president of Goldenring Productions.
