Nic Smal and Lucy Heavens
Nic Smal and Lucy Heavens are the creators and executive producers of Disney Branded Television’s animated buddy-comedy series “Kiff.” Produced by Titmouse in association with Disney Channel, the series follows Kiff, an optimistic squirrel whose thirst for life takes her on countless adventures through her town, and Barry, her chill bunny bestie. “Kiff” is inspired by the people and places Smal and Heavens experienced growing up in Cape Town, South Africa.
In addition to their creative roles, Smal and Heavens both voice characters in the series. Smal is Principal Secretary, the principal of Table Town School, and Heavens is Helen, the school’s drama teacher. Smal also writes and co-produces the original songs in “Kiff.”
Originally from Cape Town, Smal and Heavens met while working at an animation studio. Smal is a 15-year industry veteran with experience as an animator, writer, storyboard artist, editor and musician. Heavens has worked as a comedy writer on several animation projects for Disney, DreamWorks Animation and Nickelodeon in the United States, U.K. and Europe.
Both currently reside in Los Angeles, California.
