Gabourey Sidibe

“Francis”
Talent: StuGo

Gabourey Sidibe voices Francis, a stoic old soul with a strong moral code and a surprising sense of humor, in “StuGo,” an original animated series about six middle schoolers who get tricked into attending a fake academic summer camp by a mad scientist. What started as three months of learning transforms into an adventure of a lifetime on a tropical island filled with mind-reading manatees, giant fighting fungi, and fashion-forward mutants.

Sidibe was a student pursuing a degree in psychology when she was cast in Lee Daniels’ film “Precious.” For her role as the title character, she received Academy Award® and Golden Globe® nominations for Best Actress. A few of her film highlights include Universal’s action-comedy “Tower Heist,” opposite Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy; Sacha Baron Cohen’s spy comedy “The Brothers Grimsby,” for director Louis Leterrier; the Lionsgate feature “Antebellum,” which garnered her an NAACP nomination; Gregg Araki’s “White Bird in a Blizzard,” opposite Shailene Woodley; and Victoria Mahoney’s “Yelling to the Sky,” opposite Zoë Kravitz.

On television, she starred as Queenie in Ryan Murphy’s wildly popular series “American Horror Story: Coven” and has returned to the franchise many times. She was one of the stars of the Showtime dramedy series “The Big C,” opposite Laura Linney, as well as the Hulu comedy series “Difficult People,” opposite Billy Eichner. She also spent many seasons on Lee Daniels’ smash hit series “Empire” as both an actor and director. She was recently seen as a panelist on the Hulu unscripted comedy series “The Prank Panel.”

Most recently, Sidibe had a brilliant comedic TV show in development, which she was executive producing and starring in.
