Cameron Boyce
Editor’s note: "Descendants 3" is dedicated in memory of Cameron Boyce,
who passed away July 6, 2019, in Los Angeles.
For three "Descendants" movies, Cameron Boyce played the role of Carlos, the teenage son of Cruella de Vil and dedicated pet parent to Dude the Dog.
Among his other credits are the HBO series "Mrs. Fletcher" and the independent feature film "Runt."
Born May 28, 1999, and raised in Los Angeles, California, Boyce was dubbed an "old soul" by many who encountered him. He had an all-encompassing appreciation for the arts and a love of performing that began as a young boy in a dance studio. He went on to perform in numerous television commercials, series and films.
Among his credits are starring roles alongside Kiefer Sutherland in "Mirrors," Shia LaBeouf in "Eagle Eye," and Adam Sandler in "Grown Ups" and "Grown Ups 2." His other credits include "Code Black," Disney Channel’s "Jessie" and Disney XD’s "Gamer’s Guide to Pretty Much Everything."
In 2017, Boyce and Disney XD won a Daytime Emmy® Award for a short-form story about his grandmother, civil rights icon Jo Ann Allen Boyce, who was among the famed Clinton 12, a group of African-American teens who were first to desegregate a public school in Clinton, Tennessee.
Boyce was actively involved in philanthropic endeavors, including the Thirst Project, a non-profit organization that provides awareness for the global water crisis. In 2018, he launched a campaign that raised more than $27,000 to build two wells in Swaziland. In April 2018, Boyce was presented with the Thirst Project’s highest honor, the Pioneering Spirit Award.
