Executive vice president, International Original Television for Disney Entertainment

Jon Wax has been named executive vice president, International Original Television for Disney Entertainment, it was announced today by Eric Schrier, president of Disney Television Studios and Global Original Television Strategy for Disney Entertainment.

In this newly created role, Wax will work directly with regional leaders and their teams across the globe to create local content for Disney+. He will be based in Los Angeles and report directly to Schrier.

Wax will work alongside Kristen Finney, executive vice president, International Television Strategy & Operations for Disney Entertainment, who will continue to report directly to Schrier. Together, they will lead a team dedicated to setting a global original television strategy and supporting Disney Entertainment’s regional teams in providing Disney+ with best-in-class international content, with Wax focusing on the creative and Finney on the business operations of the international slate.

Previously, Wax oversaw the genre development division at Amazon, where he focused on sci-fi and fantasy series, including the global juggernaut “The Rings of Power” and the popular spinoff of “The Boys,” “Gen V.” Prior to joining Amazon, he led the drama and movies division for YouTube Originals. He also worked as executive vice president of original programming at WGN America/Tribune Studios, where he oversaw the critically acclaimed hits “Underground,” “Outsiders” and the Emmy® Award-winning title “Manhattan.” Wax began his career at Fox – working on series such as “24,” “Bones,” “Firefly” and “Prison Break,” and later serving as vice president, Drama Development at Twentieth Century Fox Television.
