Eric Schrier
President, Disney Television Studios & Global Original Television Strategy, Disney Entertainment Television
Eric Schrier is the president of Disney Television Studios & Global Original Television Strategy for Disney Entertainment Television (DET). In this position, he oversees the strategy, creative and production pipelines for 20th Television, 20th Television Animation and ABC Signature studios. That content fuels Disney’s streaming platforms and linear networks across brands including ABC Entertainment, Disney Branded Television, Freeform, FX, Hulu Originals, National Geographic Content and Onyx Collective.
In addition to the TV studios, Schrier oversees the Global Original Television Strategy, working closely with domestic and regional leaders on their creative output. In his operational oversight at DE, Schrier is responsible for centralized teams managing strategy, business planning, financial management, content analytics and operational guidance to DE’s Business Affairs, Production and Creative teams who create over 4,500 hours of programming annually across more than 300 titles. Schrier is also responsible for oversight of Creative Talent, Development and Inclusion team – the industry-leading talent placement and professional development pipeline serving partners across DE.
Prior to this role, Schrier served as president of FX Entertainment for over two decades and was responsible for overseeing all aspects of FX-branded original content on FX, FXX and FX on Hulu. His responsibilities included management of Creative, Business Affairs, Casting, Production and Operations, thereby overseeing all of FX’s television studio and FX Productions (FXP). During his tenure, hit FX series included “Nip/Tuck,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “Archer,” “Sons of Anarchy,” “Justified,” “The Americans,” “Atlanta,” “Fargo,” “Snowfall,” “The Old Man” and “The Bear.” Starting with “The Shield” in 2002, Schrier has been creatively involved with more than 100 FX original programs, totaling almost 2,000 hours of content, which earned 452 Emmy® Award nominations and won 82.
Schrier joined FX in 2000 and was promoted to manager of Current Series in July 2001. A year later, he became director of Current Series. He began his career as an assistant at CAA and then Brillstein-Grey Entertainment before landing at FX.
He is a graduate of the University of Southern California School of Cinema-Television, where he previously served as an adjunct professor. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Anti-Defamation League of Los Angeles, and he is a former president of the Hollywood Radio & Television Society (HRTS).
