‘World News Tonight With David Muir’ Is #1 Newscast Across the Board — in Total Viewers, Adults 25–54 and Adults 18–49 — Outdelivering NBC by 1.1 Million Viewers and CBS by 2.7 Million Viewers

“World News Tonight with David Muir” ranked as the No. 1 newscast on all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (6.899 million), Adults 25-54 (909,000) and Adults 18-49 (622,000) during the week of July 8, 2024, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “World News Tonight” defeated “NBC Nightly News” (5.770 million, 767,000 and 538,000, respectively) by 1.119 million Total Viewers, by 142,000 Adults 25-54 and by 84,000 Adults 18-49, respectively.

• “World News Tonight” stood as the No. 2 program of the week in Total Viewers (6.899 million) on all of broadcast and cable.
• “World News Tonight” has won the last 293 of 294 weeks in Total Viewers, including the last 137 weeks and 221 of the last 224 in Adults 25-54.
• Season to date, “World News Tonight” (7.798 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 8th straight year based on Most Current Data. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (6.467 million) by 1.331 million and “CBS Evening News” (4.708 million) by 3.090 million.
• “World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 5th consecutive season. “World News Tonight” is leading NBC in Adults 25-54 (+141,000 – 1.087 million vs. 946,000) and in Adults 18-49 (+106,000 – 740,000 vs. 634,000). In addition, “World News Tonight” is leading “CBS Evening News” (675,000 and 459,000, respectively) by 412,000 Adults 25-54 and by 286,000 Adults 18-49.
• For the week, “World News Tonight” (6.899 million, 909,000 and 622,000, respectively) defeated “CBS Evening News” (4.186 million, 563,000 and 383,000, respectively) by 2.703 million Total Viewers, by 346,000 Adults 25-54 and by 239,000 Adults 18-49.

NOTE: On Thursday (7/11/24), “NBC Nightly News” was retitled to “NBC Nitely News” due to coverage of President Biden’s NATO press conference. The retitled telecast is excluded from the weekly and season averages. NBC’s weekly averages are based on four days (Monday-Wednesday and Friday).
