WITH 8.3 MILLION VIEWERS, ‘WORLD NEWS TONIGHT WITH DAVID MUIR’ IS #1 PROGRAM ON ALL BROADCAST AND CABLE, STANDING AS AMERICA’S #1 NEWSCAST IN ALL KEY DEMOS, LEADING NBC BY 1.6 MILLION VIEWERS AND CBS BY 3.7 MILLION — WITH LARGEST MARGIN OVER NBC IN 6 MONTHS

“World News Tonight with David Muir” ranked as the No. 1 program of the week in Total Viewers (8.308 million) on all of broadcast and cable (excluding sports) during the week of Feb. 17, 2025, based on Live+Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.

• “World News Tonight” stood as the evening’s No. 1 newscast in all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (8.308 million), Adults 25-54 (1.150 million) and Adults 18-49 (794,000), outperforming “NBC Nightly News” (6.692 million, 1.021 million and 643,000, respectively) by 1.616 million Total Viewers, by 129,000 Adults 25-54 and by 151,000 Adults 18-49.
  
• For the fourth consecutive week, “World News Tonight” grew its Total Viewer lead over “NBC Nightly News” both week to week (+4% – 1.616 million vs. 1.557 million) and year to year (+31% – 1.616 million vs. 1.230 million). In addition, “World News Tonight” turned in its largest overall viewer lead over the NBC program in nearly 6 months — since w/o 8/26/24.
• For the third straight week, “World News Tonight” improved on the same week last year in Total Viewers (+7%/+516,000 – 8.308 million vs. 7.792 million), Adults 25-54 (+9%/+96,000 – 1.150 million vs. 1.054 million) and Adults 18-49 (+15%/+103,000 – 794,000 vs. 691,000).
• For the week, “World News Tonight” (8.308 million, 1.150 million and 643,000, respectively) beat “CBS Evening News” (4.639 million, 638,000 and 440,000, respectively) by 3.669 million Total Viewers, by 512,000 Adults 25-54 and by 354,000 Adults 18-49.
• Season to date, “World News Tonight” (7.944 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 9th consecutive year, based on Most Current Data. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (6.361 million) by 1.583 million and “CBS Evening News” (4.656 million) by 3.288 million. In fact, “World News Tonight” is growing its Total Viewer lead over NBC compared to the same point last season (+35% – 1.583 million vs. 1.174 million) to its largest in 30 years — since the 1994-1995 season.
• “World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 6th straight season. The ABC newscast is improving over the same point last season in Adults 25-54 (+1% – 1.137 million vs. 1.130 million) and Adults 18-49 (+1% – 785,000 vs. 777,000). In addition, “World News Tonight” (1.137 million and 785,000, respectively) is leading NBC (947,000 and 633,000, respectively), increasing its margins from the same point last season by triple digits in Adults 25-54 (+164% – 190,000 vs. 72,000) and Adults 18-49 (+145% – 152,000 vs. 62,000). In addition, “World News Tonight” is leading “CBS Evening News” (677,000 and 452,000, respectively) by 460,000 Adults 25-54 and by 333,000 Adults 18-49.

NOTE: On Friday (2/21/25), “CBS Evening News” was retitled to “CBS Evening Nws.” The retitled telecast is excluded from the weekly and season averages. CBS’ weekly averages are based on four days (Monday-Thursday).
