With 7.3 Million Viewers, ‘World News Tonight With David Muir’ Is #1 Program on U.S. Television for 19th Week This Season, and the Newscast Is #1 in Total Viewers, Adults 25–54, Adults 18–49

“World News Tonight with David Muir” stood as the No. 1 program of the week in Total Viewers (7.300 million) and Adults 25-54 (1.021 million) on all of broadcast and cable (excluding sports) during the week of June 10, 2024, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “World News Tonight” has been the No. 1 most-watched program on television for 19 weeks this season (with and without sports).

“World News Tonight” ranked as the No. 1 newscast on all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (7.300 million), Adults 25-54 (1.021 million) and Adults 18-49 (696,000). “World News Tonight” outdelivered “NBC Nightly News” (5.785 million, 825,000 and 552,000, respectively) by 1.515 million Total Viewers, by 196,000 Adults 25-54 and by 144,000 Adults 18-49, respectively.

“World News Tonight” increased its lead over “NBC Nightly News” week to week in Adults 25-54 (+33% – 196,000 vs. 147,000) and Adults 18-49 (+73% – 144,000 vs. 83,000).

“World News Tonight” widened its advantage over “NBC Nightly News” year to year in Total Viewers (+18% – 1.515 million vs. 1.287 million), Adults 25-54 (+29% – 196,000 vs. 152,000) and Adults 18-49 (+96% – 144,000 vs. 74,000).

“World News Tonight” improved on the previous week in Total Viewers (+4%/+266,000 – 7.300 million vs. 7.034 million), Adults 25-54 (+11%/+102,000 – 1.021 million vs. 919,000) and Adults 18-49 (+15%/+93,000 – 696,000 vs. 603,000). In addition, “World News Tonight” attracted its largest overall audience in 7 weeks and best Adults 18-49 performance in 9 weeks — since weeks of 4/22/24 and 4/8/24.

“World News Tonight” has won the last 289 of 290 weeks in Total Viewers, including the last 132 weeks and 217 of the last 220 in Adults 25-54.

Season to date, “World News Tonight” (7.842 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 8th straight year based on Most Current Data. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (6.536 million) by 1.306 million and “CBS Evening News” (4.743 million) by 3.099 million.

“World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 5th consecutive season. “World News Tonight” is leading NBC in Adults 25-54 (+132,000 – 1.096 million vs. 964,000) and in Adults 18-49 (+102,000 – 746,000 vs. 644,000). In addition, “World News Tonight” is leading “CBS Evening News” (682,000 and 463,000, respectively) by 414,000 Adults 25-54 and by 283,000 Adults 18-49.

For the week, “World News Tonight” (7.300 million, 1.021 million and 696,000, respectively) defeated “CBS Evening News” (4.474 million, 583,000 and 405,000, respectively) by 2.826 million Total Viewers, by 438,000 Adults 25-54 and by 291,000 Adults 18-49.

NOTE: “World News Tonight” was retitled to “WNT-ABC” on Monday (6/10/24) and Thursday (6/13/24) due to ABC’s coverage of Game 2 and Game 3, respectively, of the Stanley Cup Finals and on Wednesday (6/12/24) and Friday (6/14/24) due to Game 3 and Game 4, respectively, of the NBA Finals. On Friday, “NBC Nightly News” was retitled to “NBC Nitely News” due to coverage of U.S. Open Golf. The retitled telecasts are excluded from the weekly and season averages. ABC’s weekly averages are based on one day (Tuesday), while NBC’s weekly averages are based on four days (Monday-Thursday).
