GROWING FOR THE 6TH STRAIGHT WEEK YEAR TO YEAR, ‘WORLD NEWS TONIGHT WITH DAVID MUIR’ IS #1 NEWSCAST ACROSS ALL OF BROADCAST AND CABLE WITH NEARLY 8 MILLION VIEWERS, LEADING NBC BY 1.5 MILLION AND CBS BY 3.6 MILLION VIEWERS
‘World News Tonight’ Stands as the Only Evening Newscast To Grow Season to Date in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49
‘World News Tonight’ Ranks #1 in Total Viewers for the 9th Consecutive Year, Growing Lead by 33% Over NBC to Its Largest in 30 Years, and Is #1 in Both Adult Demos for 6th Year Straight, Growing Its Margins by Triple Digits Over NBC Season to Date

“World News Tonight with David Muir” ranked as the No. 1 evening newscast in all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (7.891 million), Adults 25-54 (1.064 million) and Adults 18-49 (786,000) during the week of March 3, 2025, based on Live+Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.
- “World News Tonight” outdelivered “NBC Nightly News” (6.393 million, 952,000 and 637,000, respectively) by 1.498 million Total Viewers, by 112,000 Adults 25-54 and by 149,000 Adults 18-49.
- “World News Tonight” increased its Total Viewer margin over “NBC Nightly News” year to year (+6% – 1.498 million vs. 1.411 million).
- “World News Tonight” improved on the same week last year in Total Viewers (+1%/+104,000 – 7.891 million vs. 7.787 million) and Adults 18-49 (+4%/+31,000 – 786,000 vs. 755,000). “World News Tonight” increased year to year in overall viewers for the 6th straight week.
- For the week, “World News Tonight” (7.891 million, 1.064 million and 786,000, respectively) beat “CBS Evening News” (4.378 million, 623,000 and 413,000, respectively) by 3.613 million Total Viewers, by 441,000 Adults 25-54 and by 373,000 Adults 18-49.
- Season to date, “World News Tonight” (7.953 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 9th consecutive year, based on Most Current Data. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (6.366 million) by 1.587 million and “CBS Evening News” (4.631 million) by 3.322 million. In fact, “World News Tonight” is growing its Total Viewer lead over NBC compared to the same point last season (+33% – 1.587 million vs. 1.190 million) to its largest in 30 years — since the 1994-1995 season.
- “World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 6th straight season. The ABC newscast is the only evening newscast to improve over the same point last season in Adults 25-54 (1.133 million vs. 1.130 million) and Adults 18-49 (+1% – 786,000 vs. 777,000). In addition, “World News Tonight” (1.136 million and 785,000, respectively) is leading NBC (948,000 and 634,000, respectively), increasing its margins from the same point last season by triple digits in Adults 25-54 (+126% – 185,000 vs. 82,000) and Adults 18-49 (+117% – 152,000 vs. 70,000). In addition, “World News Tonight” is leading “CBS Evening News” (674,000 and 450,000, respectively) by 459,000 Adults 25-54 and by 336,000 Adults 18-49.
NOTE: On Tuesday (3/4/25), all three programs were retitled. On Friday (3/7/25), “CBS Evening News” was retitled to “CBS Evening Nws.” The retitled telecasts are excluded from the weekly and season averages. ABC’s and NBC’s weekly averages are based on four days (Monday, Wednesday-Friday), while CBS’ weekly averages are based on three days (Monday, Wednesday and Thursday).
