An All-New ‘20/20’ Investigates Family Drama As It Unfolds in the Shocking Murder of a Beloved Firefighter
ABC News Chief National Correspondent Matt Gutman Reports on the Murder of Robert ‘Robbie’ Doerr on ‘20/20,’ Friday, Nov. 8, Next Day Streaming on Hulu
When veteran firefighter Robert “Robbie” Doerr is gunned down in his own driveway, the city of Evansville, Indiana, is shocked, and his murder ignites a five-year search for his killer. ABC News chief national correspondent Matt Gutman reports in an all-new “20/20” airing on ABC Friday, Nov. 7 (9:01-11:00 p.m. EST), and streaming next day on Hulu.
Featuring never-before-seen body-camera footage and police interviews, “20/20” takes viewers deep inside the investigation into a case that authorities say is a twisted tale of deception and betrayal involving Robbie’s widow, Elizabeth “Becky” Fox-Doerr. Prosecutors allege that Becky conspired with her sister’s fiancé, Larry Richmond Sr., with whom they claim she was having an affair, to murder her husband.
In an exclusive interview, Becky opens up for the first time about her husband’s death and charges against her. She vehemently denies cheating with Larry and that she was involved in the murder. Larry has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to go on trial in 2025.
Other interviews include Lindsey Griffin, Robbie’s daughter; Mandy Fillmore, Becky’s sister and Larry’s former partner; Diana Moers and Stan Levco, Vanderburgh County prosecutors; and Mark and Rob Phillips, Becky’s defense attorneys.
ABC News’ “20/20” is an award-winning primetime program anchored by David Muir and Deborah Roberts.
