ABC News’ ‘Nightline’ Ranks No. 1 in Total Viewers and Adults 18–49 vs. CBS’ ‘After Midnight’ and NBC’s ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers,’ Leading in Overall Viewers for 3rd Consecutive Week

‘Nightline’ Shows Gains Year to Year in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49

 Season to Date, ‘Nightline’ Is Up in Total Viewers, Posting Its Largest Overall Audience in 3 Years

ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (825,000) and Adults 18-49 (114,000) for the week of May 27, 2024, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research, leading CBS’ “After Midnight” and NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in overall viewers for the 3rd week in a row.

“Nightline” was up over the previous week in Adults 18-49 (+1% – 114,000 vs. 113,000).

“Nightline” improved year to year in Total Viewers (+18% – 825,000 vs. 697,000) and Adults 18-49 (+5% – 114,000 vs. 109,000).

On Thursday (5/30/24), “Nightline turned in its most-watched telecast (990,000) in 11 weeks — since 3/11/24.

Season to date, “Nightline” is growing versus the comparable weeks last season in Total Viewers (+1% – 908,000 vs. 899,000), posting its largest overall audience in 3 years — since the 2020-2021 season.

This week, “Nightline” covered Donald Trump’s historic guilty verdict; “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts’ exclusive interview with Nicole Brown Simpson’s sisters, who shared their complicated reactions to the news of OJ Simpson’s death; the looming U.S. ban or sale of TikTok; Gypsy-Rose Blanchard on finding her newfound freedom after completing her prison sentence; Scott Peterson at court seeking new DNA testing to clear his name; the American fathers arrested in Turks and Caicos; Ben Platt talking about his residency at the Palace Theater and new album and more.

NOTE: On Monday (5/27/24), “Nightline” and CBS’ “After Midnight” were coded as specials due to the Memorial Day holiday. From Tuesday through Friday, CBS’ “After Midnight” was retitled to “After Midnight-ENC,” and for the week, NBC’s “Seth Meyers” was retitled to “Seth Meyers-SM” due to being repeats. ABC’s and CBS’ weekly average is based on four days (Tuesday-Friday).
