ABC News’ ‘Nightline’ Ranks No. 1 in All Key Demos vs. CBS’ ‘After Midnight’ and NBC’s ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’
For the 3rd Consecutive Week, ‘Nightline’ Posts Across the Board Gains in All Key Demos and Draws Its Largest Overall Audience in Nearly 10 Months
ABC News’ “Nightline” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (930,000), Adults 25-54 (230,000) and Adults 18-49 (147,000) for the week of Sept. 9, 2024, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.
- For the 3rd week in a row, “Nightline” posted across-the-board increases in Total Viewers (+31% – 930,000 vs. 708,000), Adults 25-54 (+59% – 230,000 vs. 145,000) and Adults 18-49 (+62% – 147,000 vs. 91,000).
- “Nightline” drew its largest overall audience in nearly 10 months and posted its strongest key Adult numbers in over 3 months — since the weeks of 11/27/23 and 6/10/24, respectively.
- “Nightline” surged gains year to year in Total Viewers (+46% – 930,000 vs. 635,000), Adults 25-54 (+68% – 230,000 vs. 137,000) and Adults 18-49 (+101% – 147,000 vs. 73,000).
- On Monday (9/9/24), “Nightline” delivered its most-watched telecast (1.229 million) in 8 months — since 1/15/24.
- This week, “Nightline” covered the Presidential debate highlights from Trump and Harris’s first showdown of 2024; the return of Monday Night Football; Princess Kate’s health update after announcing her cancer diagnosis; Matthew McConaughey’s Greenlights Grant Initiative mission to make schools safer; Oprah Winfrey on the future of AI technology; New York Fashion Week; the season three premiere of “IMPACT x Nightline” on the death of Matthew Perry and more.
NOTE: On Friday (9/13/24), CBS’ “After Midnight” was retitled to “After Midnight-ENC,” and NBC’s “Seth Meyers” was retitled to “Seth Meyers-SM” due to being repeats. CBS’ and NBC’s weekly averages are based on four days (Monday-Thursday).
