Kayna Whitworth
Kayna Whitworth is an anchor for ABC News Live and correspondent for “Good Morning America,” “World News Tonight with David Muir,” “Nightline” and all other ABC News programs and platforms.
Whitworth has anchored breaking news events across the country, most recently including former President Donald Trump’s third indictment. She has also led coverage on the Idaho murders in 2023 and hosts the top-rated ABC Audio podcast “The King Road Killings,” which covers the evolving story.
Since joining ABC News in 2015, Whitworth has reported on a wide range of stories across the United States, including sleeping in a tent on an ice flow in Artic sub-30-degree temperatures, spending time on the USS Pasadena nuclear submarine for the U.S. Navy’s Ice X training, and climbing 200 feet up a sequoia to learn how a changing environment is impacting some of the world’s oldest and largest trees.
Prior to joining ABC News, Whitworth was the morning anchor at WHDH in Boston, where she covered the Boston Marathon bombings and the arrests of Aaron Hernandez and Whitey Bulger. Passionate about highlighting rural America, she received an Emmy® Award for her coverage of Washington state’s endangered Snake River.
Whitworth was born in Colorado, raised by school teachers, and now lives in California with her husband and two young sons.
