‘World News Tonight With David Muir’ Is America’s #1 Newscast Across All of Broadcast and Cable in Total Viewers, Adults 25–54 and Adults 18–49

 

‘World News Tonight’ Is the #2 Program of the Week in Total Viewers

 

‘World News Tonight’ Is Ranking #1 in Total Viewers for the 7th Consecutive Season and in Both Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 4th Season in a Row

“World News Tonight with David Muir” stood as America’s No. 1 evening newscast in all of broadcast and cable in Total Viewers (7.407 million), Adults 25-54 (1.201 million) and Adults 18-49 (820,000), for the week of Oct. 3, 2022, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “World News Tonight” outperformed “NBC Nightly News” (6.529 million, 1.072 million and 732,000, respectively) by 878,000 Total Viewers, by 129,000 Adults 25-54 and by 88,000 Adults 18-49.

 

“World News Tonight” has won the last 201 of 202 weeks in Total Viewers and 130 of the last 132 in Adults 25-54.

 

“World News Tonight” was the No. 2 program of the week in Total Viewers (7.407 million) on all of broadcast and cable television (excluding sports).

 

Season to date, “World News Tonight” (7.939 million) is ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers for the 7th straight year, based on Most Current Data. “World News Tonight” is leading “NBC Nightly News” (6.782 million) by 1.157 million and “CBS Evening News” (4.750 million) by 3.189 million.

 

“World News Tonight” is ranking No. 1 in Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49 for the 4th season in a row. “World News Tonight” is leading NBC in Adults 25-54 (+184,000 – 1.347 million vs. 1.163 million) in Adults 18-49 (+111,000 – 913,000 vs. 802,000)In addition, “World News Tonight” is leading “CBS Evening News” (784,000 and 511,000, respectively) by 563,000 Adults 25-54 and by 402,000 Adults 18-49.

 

For the week, “World News Tonight” (7.407 million, 1.201 million and 820,000, respectively) defeated “CBS Evening News” (4.628 million, 740,000 and 488,000, respectively) by 2.779 Total Viewers, by 461,000 Adults 25-54 and by 322,000 Adults 18-49.

 

NOTE: On Monday (10/3/22), “World News Tonight” was retitled to “WNT-ABC” due to “Monday Night Football.” The retitled telecast is excluded from the weekly averages. ABC’s averages are based on four days (Tuesday-Friday). ABC aired an MLB wildcard game on Friday, Oct. 7, in some markets on the West Coast.

 

ABC’s “World News Tonight with David Muir” airs 6:30-7:00 p.m. EDT on ABC. Almin Karamehmedovic is the senior executive producer of the broadcast.
