Michael Strahan
Michael Strahan is co-anchor of ABC’s “Good Morning America” and host of ABC’s primetime show “The $100,000 Pyramid.” Since joining “GMA” in 2016, he has covered major stories, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the death of George Floyd, the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl championship, the passing of “Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman, the United States’ Women’s World Cup victory, the Santa Fe High School shooting of 2018, the devastation of Hurricane Harvey and the London Bridge terror attack in 2017. Strahan has also conducted interviews with a wide range of newsmakers, including recent interviews with former President Barack Obama, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, former NFL star Deion Sanders, Dr. Jill Biden, and exclusive interviews with Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly, Tom Brady, Ariana Grande, and Jason Wright, the first-ever Black NFL team president, among others. With Strahan as host, “Good Morning America” won the Daytime Emmy® Award for Outstanding Morning Program in 2017 and 2018.
From 2012-2016, Strahan co-hosted the top-rated, nationally syndicated entertainment talk show “LIVE with Kelly and Michael.” Strahan and co-host Kelly Ripa were the 2015 and 2016 Daytime Emmy co-winners for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host.
Strahan founded his own production company, SMAC Entertainment, which creates strong and diversified content for ABC and other networks, most notably “The Joker’s Wild,” “ESPN 30 for 30: Deion’s Double Play,” “Wiz Khalifa: Behind The Cam,” “Back In The Game,” and more. Most recently, in November 2020, Strahan and SMAC Entertainment produced a new HBO Sports documentary, “The Cost of Winning.” The four-part docuseries follows the football team at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland. Since 2014, Strahan and SMAC have produced the highly rated and critically acclaimed “Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards.” He also hosted the first “Kids’ Choice Sports Awards” in 2014, as well as the ceremony in 2019.
In 2015, Strahan released his best-selling book, “Wake Up Happy: The Dream Big, Win Big Guide to Transforming Your Life,” and introduced COLLECTION by Michael Strahan, a men’s and boy’s clothing, shoes, luggage and accessories line.
Prior to joining the ranks of the top broadcasters in the country, Strahan played 15 years in the NFL, was a seven-time Pro-Bowler and one of only four players ever to lead the NFL in sacks for two seasons. In 2007, Strahan led the New York Giants to a dramatic Super Bowl victory over the previously undefeated New England Patriots. His spectacular NFL career resulted in Strahan named to the 2014 Pro Football Hall of Fame class, the sport’s highest honor. During the NFL football season, he serves as an analyst of “Fox NFL Sunday” and headlines the Thursday night football pregame show live from New York City.
Born in Houston, Texas, Strahan spent most of his youth in Germany, where his father Gene was stationed in the U.S. Army. Strahan returned to the U.S. for a portion of high school and soon was recruited to play football at Texas Southern University.
