Drew Goddard

Drew Goddard is an Oscar®-nominated film and television screenwriter, director and producer. He earned an Academy Award® nomination for his screenplay of “The Martian,” directed by Ridley Scott and starring Matt Damon. The film received six additional Oscar nominations including Best Picture, and also won the Golden Globe® for Best Motion Picture-Comedy. His feature credits include “Cloverfield” and “World War Z” (screenwriter) and “The Cabin in the Woods” and “Bad Times at the El Royale” (screenwriter/director). Upcoming, Goddard will write and direct a new “Matrix” film for Warner Bros. He and producing partner Sarah Esberg will also serve as producers via their Goddard Textiles banner, with “The Matrix” film series writer/director Lana Wachowski executive producing. Goddard wrote the screenplay for “Project Hail Mary,” which Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are directing with Ryan Gosling and Sandra Hüller starring for Amazon/MGM. Goddard began his career writing on the ‘90s hit series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” He also created and executive produces “Daredevil” for Netflix and Marvel, and directed the pilot of the acclaimed series “The Good Place” for NBC, serving as an executive producer for its four seasons. His additional television credits include “Angel,” the Emmy®-winning ABC drama series “Alias” and the Emmy-winning ABC drama series “Lost.” Under the Goddard Textiles banner, he executive produces and wrote the pilot for “High Potential” for ABC, starring Kaitlin Olson, which will debut in fall 2024.
